About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Level Designer to oversee level design and environment adaptation for an upcoming official DLC project. This role emphasizes building modular systems and workflows that allow for rapid iteration on maps, ensuring environments support gameplay needs while remaining adaptable for future updates. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable setting creative direction, defining best practices, and collaborating with engineers to establish scalable pipelines that empower the design team.

Responsibilities
Lead level design efforts with a focus on creating modular and reusable systems for environment development
Establish workflows and guidelines that allow for rapid iteration and efficient map updates
Collaborate with gameplay and tools engineers to ensure level design integrates seamlessly with systemic features and pipelines
Provide creative direction and oversight on spatial design, player flow, and environmental readability
Develop clear documentation and design standards to guide team members in level adaptation and iteration
Organize and lead playtesting sessions, incorporating feedback into actionable improvements
Mentor junior designers and set best practices for the level design discipline within the team
Minimum Requirements
5+ years of level design experience in game development, including leadership responsibilities
Unreal Engine Experience: Proficiency with Unreal Engine, preferably UE4 or UE5
Proven ability to create modular, scalable environments that support a variety of gameplay systems
Strong understanding of player flow, spatial design, and gameplay readability
Experience defining and implementing design workflows for iteration and updates
Excellent communication skills for leading cross-discipline collaboration
Nice to Have
Experience with Ark ASA Modkit or similar modding toolkits
Familiarity with systemic survival or open-world level design
Knowledge of procedural or semi-automated tools for level iteration
Background in data-driven design or metrics-based optimization
Experience contributing to DLC or franchise-based content releases
Salary Range: $90,000 – $125,000 Annually
