About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team on an upcoming official DLC project. This role is responsible for developing networking solutions that ensure stable online experiences and reliable matchmaking for multiplayer sessions. You will work within Unreal Engine 5 and collaborate with engineering and design teams to create modular systems that integrate smoothly within the project’s framework, with a focus on adaptability and long-term scalability.

  Hybrid Preferred – Loveland, Colorado area
  Remote may be considered in the following states – Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement matchmaking and session management systems

  • Develop scalable networking modules that integrate with existing project infrastructure

  • Optimize network performance for smooth player experiences

  • Collaborate with engineers to align networking systems to gameplay needs within Modkit constraints

  • Debug, profile, and resolve multiplayer connectivity issues, latency concerns, and performance bottlenecks

  • Establish monitoring tools and analytics pipelines to track network health and player connectivity

Minimum Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in multiplayer game networking or online systems

  • Unreal Engine Experience: Proficiency with Unreal Engine, preferably UE5

  • Strong knowledge of multiplayer architecture, session management, and matchmaking frameworks

  • Proficiency in C++ and blueprint development within Unreal Engine

  • Experience diagnosing and resolving networking issues in live or production environments

  • Understanding of network optimization techniques for real-time online applications

Nice to Have

  • Experience with modding toolkits such as Ark ASA Modkit or similar environments

  • Familiarity with Steam or Epic Online Services integration

  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure platforms

  • Background in supporting large-scale or long-running online games

  • Awareness of security considerations for multiplayer environments

  • Direct experience designing or operating matchmaking systems for multiplayer titles

Salary Range: $95,000 – $130,000 Annually
